Riddell Name No Longer Allowed on NFL Hemets

As you know National Sports Distributors has been a Primary Riddell Master Distributor for over 25 years. Riddell is the exclusive licensee for the manufacturing of NFL helmets in the collectible marketplace. As part of a new licensing agreement extension that Riddell signed with the NFL last year, the on-field logo rights were changed, and starting last season, no helmet manufacturers’ logos or names are allowed to be shown on the playing field.

With the new agreement, the Riddell logo is not allowed to be shown on any of the licensed helmets including those that are not used on the field. With Riddell producing and selling thousands of helmets of all sizes, Riddell began the transition last fall, knowing that it could take years in some cases to work through the existing Riddell-branded inventory.

Below are the production instructions for the manufacturing of any new NFL helmets.

NFL Pocket Pros, Gumballs

No logos of any sort on front of helmet.

Current NFL and Throwback NFL Mini helmets

No Logos of any sort on the front of the helmet or on the chinstrap.

NFL Replica Helmets

Current NFL Replica helmets: Team logos on front of the helmet, blank chinstraps.

Throwback NFL Replica helmets: No logos on front of helmet, blank chinstraps.

NFL Authentic Helmets

Current NFL Authentic helmets: Team logo on front bumper of the helmet, blank chinstraps, team logos on back of helmet if the team wears them.

Throwback NFL Authentic helmets: No logos on front of helmet, blank chinstraps, no team logos on back of helmets.

Please note that Riddell is not allowed to produce any new NFL licensed helmets with the Riddell logo on the front bumper or on chinstraps. There may be situations where customers receive a helmet that does have the Riddell logos. National Sports Distributors or Riddell will not be accepting returns on these. Please be aware that there will be situations of mixed inventory being shipping out on a single order.

National Sports Distributors is in the process of producing new photography for all of our NFL-licensed helmets, and will make those images available on our website as soon as those images are available.

All Riddell NFL-licensed helmets sold by National Sports Distributors do include an Official NFL Hologram, either on the package or inside the helmet itself, or both.
